Executive & Leadership Coaching
You know the feeling. You just left your monthly board meeting, and a slough of to-dos has been added to another plate (yes another, not just yours). Spinning all these plates with only two hands makes decision-making on your next move more than a checklist. Defining your next three months could feel foggy, but oh yeah, you first have to meet with that prospective donor in about 30 minutes. It’d be nice to put it all in one place and bounce the many ideas floating around in your head off of someone who understands… Or maybe you’re a senior leader who is thinking through your next steps after an eventful week putting out fires, preparing that report, juggling the HR issue that was just escalated to your attention, on top of the 1:1 check-ins slated for tomorrow with your direct reports. You know the work really well and are glad you got promoted, but you didn’t imagine spending so much time jumping from one thing to the next and just need some help putting it all in perspective. Or maybe you’re a brand new leader, freshly promoted, and looking to have some backup to help you navigate this new world and new expectations.
First things first, you are not alone. Leadership can be exhilarating, deeply impactful and meaningful - but it can also feel lonely and full of pressure. Wura offers tailored coaching support for nonprofit executive and senior leaders aiming to help walk through these and the bajillion other priorities you find yourself juggling on a day to day basis. Coaching can help us develop ourselves professionally, yes, but also improve strategic thinking, align everyday decisions with organizational goals and values, and provide extra support for the weight that is leadership. Wura’s executive and leadership coaching is tailored to your unique situation for your unique set of circumstances, provided in a 1:1 format either virtually or in-person - billed on an hourly basis. Coaching sessions are offered on a regular cadence that fit your schedule and budget.
The key difference with Wura is not only are you getting professional development from your coach, but this development is paired with key operational support that can help boost your day-to-day business. Perhaps we’ve identified that a strategic plan is in order - Wura can help you build one. Perhaps we’ve identified a need to build your network, Wura can help you develop a plan to do so. Or maybe it’s time to facilitate a team-wide conversation, Wura can help!

This is evaluated on a case by case basis but I can share some examples.
If an ED who’s looking for coaching only wants 5 hours of coaching because of an organization wide limit on professional development costs, I may waive the minimum to ensure you can get some support. That said, knowing that those 5 hours will only pay for 2-3 sessions with minimal prep, I will warn against the inability to complete thorough conversations since we’ll only be able to meet twice or three times.
Another example would be if an organization really only wants me to facilitate the strategic planning process, but they’ll take the material and create their own collateral behind it. In those circumstances, I may waive the minimum by 10-15 hours because I won’t have to design the content that the organization wants to put the material into. This will come with a cautionary tale of losing some quality however, because often times - as a visual person - our strategic planning process may be done in tandem with a visual representation that I’d ordinarily create or ask for some third-party support to create for us. So we’d lose that continuity having someone else visualize that collateral based on our material.
Bottom line, waiving minimums is done rarely, in select circumstances and I advise against it as much as possible. If we’re going to work on a project together, let’s do it holistically from the get go!

My services are tailored for nonprofit staff and leaders living in the State of Oregon.

All of my experience has been based in Oregon so I recommend Oregon. That said, learning new areas is possible so if you’re seeking services outside of Oregon, I may draw on your knowledge of the area much more than normal, but happy to talk about it!

My experience with nonprofits is deep and vast stretching over at least 20 years in various capacities. I know nonprofits very well and as much as I’d like to advise on corporate affairs, I’m still learning in that area. That said, if you’re with a corporation that you’d like to explore how nonprofit concepts can help your particular situation, let’s talk about it!
